SAAYA

    i made this carrd as a voting campaign for kindori 2020 but this is something i've wanted to do for a long time! a section dedicated to saaya yamabuki.

    i've been into bandori for a very long time, and the moment i saw saaya, in her poppin' party profile introduction, there was something about her that called out to me.

    only a few months later the anime's season 1 started airing, and from the very second that she appeared in the first episode, i knew she'd be it for me. throughout the anime, her journey and troubles resonated with my own and i can say she genuinely helped me figure myself out and strive to be better.

    i saw, and still see so much of myself in her; her growth from a lonely kid who has self-sacrificial tendencies, into a girl determined to protect her friends while loving herself too cut deep for me, in a good way. she actively struggled to learn that she mattered too, and in the end she managed to understand she's a priority with a push from the people that care about her!

    and in a way saaya was that for me. being able to see my flaws in her, and the way she grew from them along with the way she's constantly changing; it made me want to be better! if she could, i could too. and we're both better now because of it today!

    there are so many things i see in her for me, extending past personality. our very close birthdays, the kinds of people we're drawn to, the food we like, and both of our collections of hair pins and such. i haven't ever related to a character the way i do saaya!

    ultimately kindori isn't serious and this is something i wanted to write despite it. i really love saaya yamabuki and she's a very personal character to me!
